Unit rate and T&M estimating review

A bid is won or lost on assumptions nobody wrote down. This is the review that writes them down and prices them.

Fig. 07 — Estimating review
What this usually looks like
  • Labour burden applied inconsistently between bids.
  • A unit rate carried forward from a job that is not comparable.
  • Allowances that are a round number rather than a measurement.
  • Change orders priced after the fact, with no agreed basis.
What you get
  • Every assumption found, with where it appears in the bid.
  • What each one costs at your volumes.
  • A consistent basis for burden, so two bids can be compared.
  • A change-order basis agreed before the work starts.
Built a true labour burden calculator that separates craft cost from the overhead usually left out of a unit rate.
Questions
Do you price the bid for us?+
No. We review the basis and the assumptions. The commercial decision stays with you.
How many bids do you need to see?+
Three is usually enough to show whether the basis is consistent.
Do you understand construction?+
The operator spent fourteen years in heavy civil and infrastructure on the systems side, so the units and the workflow are familiar.
